Ecco una piccola perla di arte e di poesia: una canzone che in pochi versi racconta nella sua essenza più profonda la vicenda umana che portò alla costruzione della Cappella italiana nelle Orcadi, la “Chiesetta della Pace”.
Non sappiamo chi la compose, né in quale circostanza fu eseguita in pubblico: vaghi ricordi lontani indicano forse un festival di musica popolare in Edimburgo. Attraverso il web, speriamo di rintracciare gli splendidi musicisti che l’hanno concepita.

È il miracolo del Campo 60, là dove «lo Spirito prese forma in calcestruzzo, ferro e cemento», un «capolavoro d’arte e di illusione» dove i prigionieri italiani «pregarono per la fine della guerra».
Da ascoltare pensando alle guerre che oggi seppelliscono lo Spirito e l’Umanità sotto cumuli di macerie, dove “calcestruzzo, ferro e cemento” non parlano di speranza e di riscatto, ma solo di odio e di vendetta.
Here is a little pearl of art and poetry: a song that in a few verses tells in its deepest essence the human story that led to the construction of the Italian Chapel in the Orkneys, the “Chiesetta della Pace”.
We do not know who composed it, nor in what circumstances it was performed in public: vague distant memories perhaps indicate a folk music festival in Edinburgh. Through the web, we hope to track down the wonderful musicians who conceived it.
